I Am
I received this email the other day and wanted to post the answer so I don’t have to respond again, not that I mind, its just easier.
What tools did you use to create “I Am”?I’ve been surveying tools to try to make a sensible choice for myself…Thanks!- Daniel J.

I made “I Am” back in 2003 so some of what I did is a bit outdated. That said the my setup at the time was as follows:

  • dual 500 mhz G4 Apple “Bondi_Blue”
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 4 internal Hard Drives totaling over 750 GB of space.
  • 15x Wacom Cintiq
  • 17″ CRT monitor
  • Panisonic DV deck
  • 12″ Television set
  • Sony Pro VCR w/ jog and shuttle
  • Adobe After Affects Pro
  • Adobe Photoshop Pro
  • Macromedia Flash 5
  • In one shot I would use most of what I just listed. The whole film was created in 1080p also known as fill HD. The resolution is 1080x 1920 and the frame rate was 24 fps using square pixels. The nice thing about 1080p other than it looking amazing, is it transfers t film really nice. Also what is nice is it converts really well into almost any other format, DVD, 720p, 1080i or web.
