Hey look at this I’m on a f*cking roll here. This is like the third post this week… I just finished this sketch that had 6 previous incarnations. What I wanted was a girl longing for someone to the right of her, at a cafe. I am going to finish this as a painting on a large canvas (24″x30″, still not sure if I’m going to do acrylic or oil. There will also be another image to the right which will have the interest. The idea behind this is I want to start dabbling in fine art and pushing the boundary of what is cartooning or illustration and fine art. As these two field blur you start to find cross over like Makoto Aida’s works. I know its Japanese but it has definitely influence American culture at least in how I was brought up, thus my art tends to hearken back to Anime instead of UPA. That said that is the reasoning behind the style. The over arching theme is feelings, there will be others as well as variants, this one is longing.

Wow I waited a real long time to update my site this time. It’s not like I was busy making money or anything… actually I am not being sarcastic, I was working on the painting on and off that’s on my home page.
It took about 40 hours of work in all and the final size of the PSD was a whopping 720 MB! But now its done. A little about it, its from the anime that I have spoken about before, Juuni Kokkie, aka Twelve Kingdoms, and this is the main character. I wanted to do this as an illustration exercise, I saw another illustrator do the same with Nausicaä, and I figured I would give it a try. Over all I am happy with it, though I think that fabric could be better, I will have to try harder on the next one I do.
I added a new piece of art work in the PORTFOLIO section. Its a storyboard from a film that I am redoing, so I am not using this partially finished board for anything.
Also if you want to know what I am watching right now, as far as good anime is concerned, I am watching Juuni Kokki (The Twelve Kingdoms) , look it up, its some good shit!!
